Amanda and I send messages to each other at work. We use MSN messenger. Today she sent me a note saying that "Julian made a poopoo in his toybox". So I wrote back, "why?" "how?". I think I was more interested in "why" than "how", anyway, she wrote back "He says the poop was happy there". And then, "Shall I punish him?". So I wrote back, "Not if the poop was happy". What else could I say?
Then I got home and I asked Julian what happened. He said he had to poop in the toybox because the poopoo was scared of the potty. Could't argue with that.
I say, if a guy (or girl) is so in tune with their body that they know that their poop is anxious about being in the toilet, then you have all the reason I need to poop anywhere you please. Like I've said before, I'm just documenting these things. However, this time I'll skip the photos and illustrations; I think you understand.

Maya wants a cocktail
Another long weekend of packing. But for the devoted fans out there (like Laura !) I thought I'd make a quick entry. I'll try to update the pictures soon. This site for me is really about keeping track of the silly things the kids say and do. And they say a lot of silly things. Today we were grilling on the balcony, man what a nice day, and baba Dora asked Maya what she wanted to eat or drink and Maya said she wanted a "cocktail". So baba Dora was taken a bit by surprise so she expanded the question and asked, "Smirnov or Molotov". At that point I think they were both a little confused. So Maya answered "fruit-cocktail". Thank goodness.
Sometimes you wonder who your kids spend time with so we wondered where she was drinking these cocktails. In the end she was just really enjoying the cans of fruit cocktail we have in the pantry. Until next time.
p.s. Julian is afraid of spiders. I just wanted to note that.

Packing packing packing
Packing sucks. That's my apology for not updating the blog site. It's getting loopy, but you know stress works like this. #1) you get stressed and every little things makes you snap. #2) at some point you realize you're so stressed it's a bit funny so you relax a little bit and laugh at yourself. We're already at #2.
We have an ongoing debate that Julian is very sensitive to sugar, some of you may remember we got him a "I scream for ice-cream" shirt. Some people find it cute. It's a warning ! Anyhow, mom is here helping us to stay at stress level #2 rather than go to #3 (complete mental breakdown; thanks mom), but she's under the impression that Julian can handle his sweets. Tonight he had some honey with his milk and went completely berzerk. He enjoyed it but the rest of us missed that boat. So the conclusion of that experience is that Julian is very sensitive to sugar even if it's diguised as honey (you know the nice stuff Winnie the Pooh eats, well it's like amphetamines for our little guy).
Good night.

Newcastle here we come !
Last week Amanda, Maya and I flew to Newcastle to find ourselves a home. Julian stayed with Baba Dora in Tuebingen and except for a tick bite on his eye lid and some sickness I think they had a blast hanging out at the toy stores. There are two things I don't like about the US: shopping and driving. In Newcastle we found ourselves driving a lot and surrounded by immense shopping malls. So you can imagine we felt like home (U.S.). We could understand everyone and most folks are really friendly. In Germany we've learned to ignore people, because we suck at the language (even after several classes).
So we found a house to rent in an area that we like. We're close to friends from the University and the town is huge so there are lots of cute parts and not so cute parts. At least the stores have Dr. Pepper and Doritos. We also opened a bank account and realized how many dollars one needs to make a substantial amount in pounds. Quite a lot.
Maya hated being restricted in the car seat while driving around looking at properties, but Julian would have liked it even less. He and Baba Dora seemed to have hit it off well together and he showed her his favorites toys at the toy store.
So we're excited about the move and feel Newcastle can be a good home. At least when we fly in next for good we'll be able to imagine where we'll be living. But there's still a little hesitation about the big task ahead. So as Lando Calrisian said when he plunged the Millenium Falcon into the Death Star, "HERE GOES NOTHING !".
